Enjoyed the interview. You are reviving what existed before the 'white privilege' mantra in that we all have far more in common than what separates us. But it is hard not to get confused by it. After the BLM protests started, it came to my mind that years ago I might have offended a friend by inviting her to watch a Nightmare on Elm Street. Luckily I realized I was buying into their insanity and literally put a force stop on the rhetoric infiltrating my mind.

You mentioned that you are writing up a response to the country song. I hope you also do a write up to the movie They Cloned Tyrone. I am a third of the way through it. I am both mesmerized by the cinematography and all the talent showcased and truly appalled as it seems like it is mocking a mythical black community. Those who made the movie have very privileged lives. (Like Cheryl Crow with her snarky remark when she surely has a security detail.) I am from St. Louis and grew up near Ferguson. There are some really tough areas but even in the lower-class areas, you have flower gardens and nicely kept homes. I agree with you 1000 that it only takes a few bad people to wreck things for everyone.

Sorry for the mis-posting of the comment. The ending with your friend was heart-wrenching. The area I grew up in has no grocery stores left due to theft. My brother, a Republican, always says how hard it must be for people to get groceries when he delivers food to a food bank in the area. Somehow this reflection is lost on the Dems in my family.
